What do you need to make Chinese Fried Shrimp Spring Rolls Recipe?

  • Shrimp – I like to buy freshly frozen shrimp and cut the shrimp into small pieces.
  • sesame oil – to enhance the flavour when the shrimp was marinated with sesame oil.
  • cornstarch – to enrich the texture.
  • garlic paste – to enhance the flavour but you can skip this if you don’t like garlic.
  • spring roll wrappers – I got mine at an Asian supermarket, they are usually in the frozen aisle.

How to store Chinese Fried Shrimp Spring Rolls?

Fried spring rolls can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days if they are stored properly.

To ensure the best quality, it’s recommended to store them in an airtight container or a resealable plastic bag. Before storing, allow the spring rolls to cool to room temperature and then wrap them individually with plastic wrap or wax paper to prevent them from sticking together.

You can also place a layer of paper towels in between each layer of spring rolls to help absorb any excess moisture. When you’re ready to eat them, simply reheat them in the oven or air fryer until they are hot and crispy.

It’s important to note that reheated fried spring rolls may not be as crispy as when they were freshly fried, but they should still be tasty and enjoyable.

If you want to have fresh spring rolls every time, keep the seasoned shrimp in an air-tight container, and the wrappers in a resealable plastic bag. Quickly assemble the spring rolls and deep fry them. They are good in the fridge for up tp 4 days.

Fried shrimp spring rolls are typically served with a dipping sauce that complements their savoury and slightly sweet flavours. Here are a few sauce options that pair well with fried shrimp spring rolls:

  1. Sweet chilli sauce: A classic dipping sauce that is both sweet and spicy.
  2. Peanut sauce: A creamy sauce made with peanut butter, coconut milk, soy sauce, and other flavorful ingredients.
  3. Soy sauce: A simple and savoury sauce that complements the flavours of the fried shrimp spring rolls.
  4. Hoisin sauce: A rich and sweet sauce made with fermented soybeans and other seasonings that pairs well with the spring rolls.
  5. Spicy mustard sauce: A tangy and spicy sauce that can add a kick of heat to the spring rolls.
  6. Plum sauce: A sweet and tangy sauce made from plums that pair well with the savoury flavours of the shrimp and vegetables in the spring rolls.

Ultimately, the choice of dipping sauce comes down to personal preference. Feel free to experiment with different sauces until you find one that you love!

Pro-tip to get the Spring Roll Golden Brown:

  • Remember to heat the oil over medium-high heat, always check the spring rolls to adjust the heat.
  • Work with small batches, putting too many spring rolls into the oil will reduce the oil temperature.
  • The oil temperature should be around 160 celcius degrees.
  • My spring rolls take about 8-12 minutes to deep fry.

How to make Vegetable spring rolls?

Vegetable spring rolls are very similar, what you need is some vegetables (Ginger, garlic, green onion, shitake mushrooms, cabbage, carrots, bamboo shoots, and bean sprouts), sautee all these vegetables first, then mix in a little bit of soy sauce and sesame oil to taste, use a kitchen towel to absorb the juice.

Then stir in cornstarch, and mix until you get a paste-like texture. I hope you will try Chinese Fried Shrimp Spring rolls though! They are super delicious.
