Is Honey Challah Recipe Vegan?

This recipe is NOT vegan because we have used eggs. If you would like to make this a Vegan Honey Challah recipe, you can substitute the eggs with 3 ripe bananas.

Banana is a good substitute for eggs in most baking recipes. Banana adds moisture and enhances flavours and texture!

If you don’t like bananas, you might just add more water to the vegan recipe.

Can Honey Challah Recipe be Frozen?

Once the bread is baked and cooled down to room temperature, you may slice it and store them in the freezer. Simply put the bread back into the fridge the night before and you may heat it up with a toaster oven.

However, I always enjoy my challah fresh. I seldom freeze my bread. You know, freshly baked bread is always more delicious than reheated ones!

How long does Challah bread stay fresh?

Challah stays fresh for about 3 days at room temperature.

How do you store challah bread?

The best way to store challah bread is to keep them in an air-tight container, then put them in the fridge. This way, the bread is good for up to 1-2 weeks.

Can Challah dough be frozen?

Absolutely!

You can freeze the dough after it’s shaped. What you need to do is freeze the dough on the baking tray. Once frozen, transfer the dough to an air-tight container or ziplock bag for up to 2 weeks.

Thaw the dough the night before by transferring it to the fridge.

Cover and let it rise before baking, usually, take longer if the dough has been frozen before.

The Honey Challah recipe is so delicious, so if you plan ahead, you can have freshly baked bread whenever you want it!

Challah vs Brioche, what’s the difference?

I always see Challah and Brioche as very similar. In the honey Challah recipe here we use olive oil, honey and water while brioche usually uses sugar and butter, plus milk.

Challah is healthier, in my opinion.
