This is the sauce I use!

Some people like to use oyster sauce, a Chinese approach to Enoki Mushroom rolls with beef; some people also use soy sauce and sugar. You may use any of your favourite sauces to cook it, or don’t use any sauce in cooking, but dip the beef rolls in your favourite sauce when serving.

How early in advance can you prepare Japanese-style Enoki Mushroom rolls with beef?

The sliced beef may turn bad in a day, however, if you are hosting a party in the evening, you can prepare them in the morning, and they will be good in the fridge for a day.

And these are super quick and easy to make, ask your kids to help you wrap all the meat in the mushrooms!

What do enoki mushrooms taste like?

Enoki mushrooms do not have many flavours in them, they are very mild and fruity. The texture is a bit crunchy when raw, however, the texture will change to soft and chewy when they are cooked.

Enoki mushrooms also absorb flavours really well, so you may cook them in vegetable broth, or any sauce! They are just so good in a hotpot, or wrapped with meat!

When do enoki mushrooms go bad?

You can keep enoki mushrooms in the fridge for about 1-2 weeks. Monitor closely to see if they have changed their colours, and are dry and wrinkly.

Make sure you don’t open the package if you are not eating it the right way. Keeping them in the package helps them to stay fresh longer!

Also, cut off the root, and rinse to clean the mushroom before you cook them. 🙂

I always plan ahead for my meals to prevent wasting food.

How do you eat enoki mushrooms?

Japanese-style Enoki Mushroom rolls with beef are one way and my favourite way. You can also eat them in a hotpot, BBQ (wrapped in tin foil with garlic and butter), in any noodles dish, etc. I have seen people deep-fried them too!

I love to serve it with noodles or rice. The sauce and the texture of the Japanese-style Enoki Mushroom roll with beef pair so well with noodles and rice!

Enoki mushrooms are so versatile, so make sure you incorporate them into your diet!

What other proteins can you use to make Japanese-style Enoki Mushroom rolls with beef?

Pork, bacon, or anything thinly sliced that can be wrapped around the mushroom!

Japanese-style Enoki Mushroom rolls with beef are super versatile!
